Wire Insulation Layer Protection Tips for ZCEBOX Plastic Distribution Box Junction Boxes

Oct. 24, 2025
Damage to the wire insulation layer easily causes short circuits, which is a common hidden danger in junction box use. ZCEBOX shares 3 simple protection tips to avoid insulation layer damage:
  1. 1. Use special tools to control force when stripping wiresPrioritize ZCEBOX matching wire strippers (with preset stripping depth for corresponding wire gauges). Gently clamp the insulation layer and pull slowly—avoid manual stripping with a utility knife to prevent uncontrolled force from scratching the insulation layer outside the copper core.
  2. 2. Do not "crimp" the insulation layer during terminal crimpingFollow the previously mentioned operation of "stripping length 1-2mm shorter than terminal depth" to ensure the terminal only crimps the copper core and does not touch the insulation layer. If the insulation layer is pressed into the terminal, re-adjust the stripping length to avoid damage from pressure.
  3. 3. Repair in time after damageIf small damage to the insulation layer is found, cut a 5mm wide insulating tape and wrap it 2-3 times around the damaged area (covering the damaged area and 5mm on both sides) to form a protective layer, which can be used in emergencies when wires cannot be replaced temporarily.
Good insulation layer protection can reduce the short-circuit risk of ZCEBOX junction boxes from the source.
