(1) Fixed panel switch cabinet, often called switchboard or power distribution panel, is an open switch with a panel-covered cabinet. The front provides protection, but the back and sides still allow contact with live parts, resulting in a low protection level. It can only be used in industrial and mining enterprises with lower reliability requirements for continuous power supply and centralized power supply in transformer rooms. (2) Protective (i.e., enclosed) switchgear refers to a low-voltage switchgear enclosed on all sides except the installation surface. This type of switch cabinet features a closed steel plate shell, with all electrical components for incoming and outgoing circuits installed in withdrawable drawers, forming functional units that can complete specific power supply tasks. The functional units are separated from the busbar or cable by grounded metal plates or plastic functional plates, creating three areas: busbar, functional unit, and cable. Isolation measures are also applied between each functional unit. Drawer switch cabinets offer higher reliability, safety, and interchangeability, making them more advanced. Most currently produced switch cabinets are of this type, suitable for industrial and mining enterprises and high-rise buildings with high power supply reliability requirements, serving as centralized control power distribution centers. (4) Power and lighting distribution control box. Mostly installed as closed vertical units. The shell protection level varies according to different application occasions.
